Quote of the Week:

"Relax. Your rumination, analysis, worry, and need to control the future are robbing you of the current moment. Yes, there is a time for preparation, but continually thinking of the future guarantees you'll never enjoy in the present." - James Clear

Content of the Week:

This week I flew back to the East Coast. As I landed in Chicago something crazy happened. It was so cold that the fuel in the fuel trucks froze so the planes at the gate couldn't fuel and as a result, couldn't leave. This led to a line of 13 planes waiting for a gate to open. Unfortunately I was in that line. As the hours began to pass I started to notice there were two types of people.

ree

Person #1, someone who started watching a movie or was catching up on work or was reading their book.

Person #2, someone who kept standing up, asking the stewardess questions/yelling and generally complaining.

In our lives, things happen to us and sometimes they suck. Unfortunately, we can't always control what happens but we can control how we handle the situation, and most of the time, how we handle the situation dictates our level of happiness.

My takeaway, I always want to be Person #1. We all ended up getting to the gate at the same exact time but the people who fell into the person #1 bucket had a much more enjoyable, and if they chose, more productive three hours than person #2.

Big Questions of the Week:

When something goes wrong, what's your immediate reaction? Is that how you want to respond to things for the rest of your life?

Photo of the Week:

After an overnight in Chicago and two crazy flights like the above I made it home. Now I get to spend two weeks with my mom. Yesterday we went out to dinner and ordered two pounds of mussels. Yum!

Till next week, be kind, be curious and work hard.
