Quote of the Week: "Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune." - Jim Rohn Article of the Week: Growth without Goals In this article, Patrick O'Shaughnessy, challenges the notion of settings goals and emphasizes the importance of living in the present moment. Patrick believes that focusing on accomplishments and achievements can be traps, since they are often tied to past or future events. Instead of goals, he suggests focusing on continuous growth through daily practices and exploration.

I completely agree with his philosophy of focusing on continuous growth and living in the moment. Great habits and practices lead to a great life. While I think this article gives you a lot of great content to think about, what I don't agree with is the notion of abandoning goal setting all together. Goal setting is your north star. By setting a goal you can determine what you want to improve on every day, and the general direction you'd like to head. While you might disconnect from the goal once it's made and focus on the daily improvement, goal setting is still a key part of the process. What do you think? Are you team "Goal Setting," "Continuous Development," or "A Mix of Both." Send me an email and let me know!
Challenge of the Week:
Pick one healthy activity (e.g., 10 pushups, read 10 pages, compliment 1 person) and do it everyday for the next week. The focus here is on continuous improvement, and developing a habit that will compound over time.
Anturas Community Accomplishment: One of our community members received 3 job offers this week!! I always consider one job offer a week to be a pretty good week, but THREE, nice! Congratulations! Breakthrough from Last Week: Last week was focused on happiness as a long-lived and calming presence in our life vs. a high we chase (e.g., new cars, shopping, crazy nights out). Turns out, a few of our community members have made similar realizations in the past few months! "I loved this concept! I spent today cleaning my apartment, napping, watching tennis, cooking, and working out. By most measures, it was a lazy day inside at home. But it was recharging and made me happy (to your point). Yesterday at the beach was a high, which was great, but not sustainable or recharging. This made me think of a quote which I try to keep front of mind when I am recharging; "The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted."' If anything in this newsletter resonates with you, simply reply to this email! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Photo of the Week: It was Huckleberry's first camping trip last weekend and let's just say, she was one happy camper :) Till next week, be kind, be curious and work hard. Tanner
