Quote of the Week: "If we don't choose to intentionally and consciously slow down and stop being in a rush, your body and mind will force you to do it anyway" - Jay Shetty Content of the Week: Last week I talked about slowing down. My focus for the week was to single-task and enjoy the action at hand (e.g., making breakfast). You'd think slowing down would be easier but that's the opposite of what I found.

The first action was usually great, but as I went from one action to the next, it became harder to stay focused. I kept wanting to multi-task or check my phone or put on a podcast. I've been so programmed for speed and multi-tasking that slowing down and being deliberate was exhausting!

While it was difficult and I constantly had to remind myself to not get distracted, when I single-tasked at work, I was super productive (duh). I wasn't trying to do other things in between my work sessions (e.g., I wasn't constantly checking email or switching between tasks). Even when I focused on doing one task slowly, I completed it faster than usual. It was a light bulb moment. I theoretically understood that single-tasking could help productivity, but I was not doing it. When I actually did one thing at a time, and focused on doing it deliberately and completely, I saved hours on my bigger tasks. So while I spent a couple more minutes cooking breakfast, overall I saved hours throughout the week because of my focused work. Big Question(s) of the Week: Did you focus on single-tasking this week? How did it go? Challenge of the Week: Every time you start to multi-task say "single-task" out loud and go back to focusing on one activity. I bet you'll be shocked by how often you actually multi-task.

Photo of the Week: It was this girl's 1st birthday last weekend!! We celebrated up at the lake, where Hucky was able to explore off-leash :) Till next week, be kind, be curious and work hard. Tanner
