Quote of the Week: “The goal isn’t just to get there. It is also to have fun along the way” - Xavier Dagba Content of the Week: I have been hyper focused on doing my basic, daily tasks as efficiently as possible for as long as I can remember. From cooking, to finding the fastest route, to my nighttime routine, I have instinctually tried to find the quickest, most efficient way to do things. What I've recently noticed is that this mindset carries a cost. Let's take cooking breakfast for example. When I cook eggs, you'd think I was on a food show racing against the clock. The first thing I do is heat the pan and then I'm off! I start cutting up my vegetables, dump them in. Then I get the eggs out and add them to the other side of the pan. While those are cooking, I get some fruit out of the fridge, start preparing my plate and of course, go back to the stove and move the vegetables/eggs around. All this takes me about three minutes and one pan. What a whirlwind!!

This has been common practice for me over the last five years. I rush through cooking breakfast and try to use the least amount of dishes as possible. By making this process so efficient, I've actually taken the fun out of it. All this rushing and efficiency costs me the joy of doing the activity, and only "gives me" five extra minutes. The worst part about it, I don't even know what I spend the additional five minutes on, so what's the rush?

My challenge for myself this week, and I'd love for you all to join, is to slow down. I'm going to start with breakfast and I'm going to focus on doing it slowly and deliberately. Enjoying the process, instead of treating it as a means to an end.

Big Question of the Week: Are you rushing through any activities? Challenge of the Week: Pick an activity you are rushing through and SLOW DOWN. Try to enjoy the process instead of trying to get through it.
